Message from the HOD:

You are warmly welcome to the Department of Political Science and International Relations. The Department runs two programmes namely – Political Science and International Relations – leading to the award of B.Sc (Hons) Degree (in both programmes). The Department was established in September 2012. Before this time, the two programmes in the Department were under the Department of Social Sciences. The Department graduated its first set in 2014.

The Department is actively involved in realising the mission of this great citadel of learning as it equips its students with the cutting-edge knowledge base that is specifically designed to transform them into new generation of leaders and reformers. Through the University’s customised life-applicable training system anchored on agrarian revolution and the Department’s creative and qualitative knowledge base, the graduates of the Department are equipped to facilitate the rebuilding of the desolation of many generations both in Nigeria and beyond. The task is made easier with the quality of faculty in the Department, the active support of the Vice Chancellor and the generosity of the Chancellor. Wouldn’t you rather be part of this educational revolution at the Department of Political Science and International Relations, Landmark University?

Join us. Welcome!

Office of the HOD

Brief about the Department: Political Science & International Relations Programmes are designed to equip our students with strong analytical and communicative skills relevant for the pursuit of diverse range of exciting career paths in the public and private sectors, international organisations (including international non-governmental organisations, multinational organisations and other issue-advocacy groups), foreign service, military and para-military organisations, teaching as well as research institutions. We provide our students the knowledge that will enable them to resolve the myriads of challenges besetting our society, nationally and internationally. Our curricula have both theoretical and practical relevance. With the understanding that we live in a constantly changing world defined by new concerns and issues, we constantly review our curricula to take care of these emerging issues.

Our curricula theoretically explore the changing dynamics of public policy, international diplomacy, political economy, environmental and energy politics, gender studies, comparative politics and democratisation, political theory, peace and conflict studies, international terrorism, public administration and local government, race and ethnicity in international relations, civil society, integration, globalisation, and international economic relations.
